Snubs Obama’s call to send more troops to Afghanistan…
It is time for Asia to use its stronger voice to take a more prominent role in this new world order. The progression from the Western-dominated G8 to a more inclusive G20, with meaningful positions for leading Asian economies, rightly reflects the shift to a new equilibrium in which Asia has much greater weight.
Attempts to extend Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's chairmanship of the African Union cause a diplomatic spat.

My comment: If you were having trouble determining where government ends and corporations begin and vice-versa, this ruling by the
supremes means that it will be impossible to make that distinction
ever again.

The Coming Fury Of An Angry America
A tiny part of a tiny part of the population of the earth will set the terms for the future of all humans. A tiny part that is broken, spent out, and increasingly disillusioned. That sliver of humanity is the broken, spent out, and increasingly disillusioned American middle class, burdened with the task of spending all America out of catastrophe. HAITI
The Kidnapping of Haiti
By John Pilger
The theft of Haiti has been swift and crude. On 22 January, the United States secured “formal approval” from the United Nations to take over all air and sea ports in Haiti, and to “secure” roads. No Haitian signed the agreement, which has no basis in law. Power rules in an American naval blockade and the arrival of 13,000 marines, special forces, spooks and mercenaries, none with humanitarian relief training. Continue

The Obama Administration has about six weeks to completely renounce
its simulacra of reform in the nation’s finances, healthcare and
military affairs, or it is doomed to repudiation and defeat in the
November 2010 elections.
What is abundantly clear is that the Obama Administration’s central

You probably don’t have a savings account or credit card to tap to go
live in a hotel for awhile – – even if there were enough hotels left
standing to get a room. You might try to stay with friends or
relatives in the countryside (where, in Haiti, most people live on
less than $2 a day). Or you might decide to flee across the border to
Canada or Mexico, but you’ll likely be turned back. If you do make it
out, you’ll need to find a friend or relative to take you in. You’ll
also have to figure out how to get there.
My comment: We’ve had our Katrina, but certainly a nationwide Katrina–like event is not out of the question.

Basic human needs will become the biggest priority in
your life after you shed the things that have merely brought comfort and convenience
to you. You may be forced to downscale your lifestyle so dramatically
that it will cause you to question your own intelligence and hindsight
for not planning for such a life changing event.
